Faiths Against Hunting

All faiths are against hunting for sport. It is an affront particularly to Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Jains.
Teresa May risks offending and alienating these faith groups by allowing a free vote on repealing the Hunting Act.
The Animal Interfaith Alliance supports the Hunting Act.
Our Sympathy to the Victims of Westminster’s Terrorist Attack
The Animal Interfaith Alliance expresses its deepest sympathy for all those involved in yesterday’s terrorist attack at Westminster. They are in our thoughts and prayers.
We call on unity between all faiths as we struggle to come to terms with this terrible event.
Put Animals top for Lent

Lent 2017 begins tomorrow on Ash Wednesday ,1st March 2017 and my question for today is what are YOU going to do for this Christian season of fasting, prayer and reflection?
I would like to make some suggestions and your response will probably vary depending on your current diet and work/support for animal creation:
- If you current eat meat and/or fish then turn Vegetarian for Lent.
- If you are currently Vegetarian then turn Vegan for Lent.
- If you currently follow a Vegan diet then look at all your other buying patterns to ensure that you do not purchase any animal products in other ways.
All and indeed any of the above would be good not only for the animal creation but also for your own health and spiritual needs.
Lent is also an almsgiving period and as a Catholic Charity, we are always at Catholic Concern for Animals in need…

Hands across the Water

I was delighted to meet Dr Bernie Unti during my visit to Humane Society of the Unites States recently.
Bernie is the Senior Policy Adviser and Special Assistant to the President and CEO of HSUS and as well as charing the meeting for my presentation with his HSUS colleagues, Bernie and I had the opportunity to discuss various important Animal Welfare/Animal Protection issues outside of the formal meeting session.
I was thrilled and delighted when Bernie presented me with an ARK themed tie which is absolutely wonderful and which I will now wear with pride when giving presentations for CCA.
Many thanks Bernie and the tie will be a real and visual sign of the links between CCA and HSUS going forward.
CCA and Humane Society of the United States

I was delighted to be invited to present to the Humane Society of the United States on the work of CCA during my visit to Washington.
HSUS has a long and proud tradition of advocating for and protecting animals throughout the length and breadth of the US for over half a century.
I was able to explain the work of CCA throughout the world and the history of Animal Welfare in the Catholic Church to a room of senior HSUS staff and also by telephone link to their colleagues in Regional HSUS offices throughout the country and then take a Question and Answer session following my presentation. I was able to explain to HSUS colleagues how CCA plans to work more vigorously in the USA in the future based on the writings of Pope Francis in his Encyclical Letter, Laudato Si’.
I am looking forward to closer cooperation between CCA…

St Francis Alliance Catholic Retreat

I am delighted to be at the St Francis Alliance: Faithful Voices for Animals Retreat which is taking place this weekend at the San Damiano Spiritual Life Centre in White Post,Virginia which is in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
The Sr Francis Alliance is a wonderful grouping of Catholic men and women who have come together following the publication of Laudato Si’ to advocate for animals in the USA and CCA have been working with them since 2016.
The Retreat is a fantastic event in which we are discussing Animal Welfare and Animal Rights from a Catholic perspective as well as participants being able to relax and also enjoy spiritual time and fellowship and this event reminds me very much in make up of the Retreats that CCA hold each year in the UK.
I was delighted today to present to participant colleagues on the work of CCA throughout the…
