Animal Interfaith Week 2023

Interfaith Week 2023 ran from Sunday 12th – Sunday 19th November 2023 and AIA celebrated it with its Animal Interfaith Week. AIA and its member organisations held the animal related events below.


AIA Interfaith Celebration for Animals 2023

AIA held its annual Interfaith Celebration for Animals, led by Rev. Feargus O’Connor, on Zoom on Sunday 19th November, with guest speaker Dr Christina Nellist of Pan-Orthodox Concern for Animals, speaking about Orthodox Prayers for Creation. Rev. Feargus read prayers and readings from all the major faiths that celebrate animals. Dr Andre Menache talked about replacing animals in laboratory testing with human relevant methods, and Barbara Gardner showed an uplifting sample from the 4,000 plus entries in the Spirited Arts competition 2023 from school children.

Addresses the AIA AGM

Bob Isaacson, Founder and President of Dharma Voices for Animals (DVA) addressed the AIA AGM on Zoom about DVA’s inspirational work in raising awareness of the suffering of animals, on Thursday 16th November.


James Yeates of the World Federation for Animals Addresses the CCA AGM

The World Federation for Animals’ (WFA) Chief Executive, Dr James Yeates addressed the the CCA AGM on Zoom on Saturday 18th November about the inspiring work of the WFA on putting animals onto the agendas of international bodies such as the United Nations.


ASWA Animals in War Memorial Service 2023

The Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals (ASWA) held their 2023 Animals in War Memorial Service on Sunday 12th November at the Park Lane Animal War Memorial.

AIA directors Fr Martin Henig, who co-led the service, and Dr Christina Nellist represented AIA, as well as their own organisations, ASWA and Pan Orthodox Concern for Animals. Dr Nellist laid a wreath for AIA.

We remember those animals, not only in past wars, but who are caught up in the new wars of today, and pray that there will be and end to all wars.


Compassion Consortium Monthly Sunday Service

Compassion Consortium (CC) held their monthly Sunday service on Sunday 19th November on Zoom with guest speakers William Radinson, founder of Catholic Social Teaching and Humane Education and artist Linda G. Fisher.
